Harry Potter star Emma Watson will retire from the industry, following news from her agent that she has been ‘inactive’.
The news was first reported by The Daily Mail, with speculation that she was retreating from the attention center to spend time with her rumored fiance Leo Robinton.
Speaking to the store, his agent revealed he was inactive, although they did not provide details on the nature or reason behind the move.
Responding to the news on Twitter, one fan wrote: “This is a ruin.”
Someone else said: “EMMA WATSON READS WHAT IS NOT SPEAKING TO ME PLEASE.”
Many others were happy for Watson, and supported his decision.
“Emma Watson has given us some of the most iconic roles,” wrote one fan, adding: “I hope the best for her in the future. She deserves this.”
Another said: “I did NOT expect to get up and read that Emma Watson will stop acting but she did her best for me so I can’t complain. Thank you for giving us so many great performances.”
Last year, Watson, 30, said he hoped to ‘help make a difference’ in his new role on the board of directors of the Dry fashion brand, which oversees luxury brands including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen.
He told Vogue that fans may have noticed a ‘new peace’ from him as he planned to do ‘less red carpet and more conference meetings’.
Watson explains: “During this pandemic, like many of us, I have time to reflect on the jobs I want to be involved in and what it means for me to move forward.
“Having been so open in filmmaking and being so active on social platforms in my activism, I wanted to know the role in which I worked to strengthen the voice, to continue to learn from those with different experiences, and to ensure a wider network of perspectives considered.
“Behind the scenes now, I hope I can help in making a difference.”
